Britannia was set up in 1856 and it's former name was Leek and Moorlands building society and it's name was changed to Britannia over a period of mergers throughout it's life.

The Society has billions of lending per year and measure to be one of the UK's biggest building societies.

The charity workds of the Society includes The Britannia Building Society Foundation ( Britannia's community fund )
